AEG
User Interface / Start Inhibit
AEG washing machine will not start a cycle; the display is on, but pressing start does nothing; no error code.

Possible Causes
Child lock (key lock) activated, door not detected as closed, faulty start/pause button, UI board fault.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the machine is plugged in and the door is firmly closed.
- Check child lock: Many AEG models show a key symbol when the lock is active. Hold the designated button combination (often two buttons marked with a key icon) for several seconds to deactivate.
- Confirm door lock: Listen for a click when pressing start. If no click, the door lock may be faulty (see door lock faults above).
- Try power reset: Turn the machine off, unplug for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try again.
If the UI remains unresponsive, the user interface board or control board may require replacement.
