Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off water supply. Water may be present in the base; be careful of sharp edges when removing panels.
- Check for visible leaks: Remove the lower front kick panel or rear panel (model dependent). Use a torch to look for water trails around the door seal, sump hose, pumps, and dispenser hoses.
- Inspect door seal: Look for tears, holes, or heavy mould at the bottom of the grey rubber bellow. Any damage usually requires replacement.
- Examine sump hose and clamps: The large black hose from the tub to the pump can split or its clamps can loosen. Tighten clamps and replace the hose if cracked.
- Check pumps and hoses: Look for drips from the drain pump body, circulation pump (on some AEG models), and all connected hoses. Replace any leaking component.
- Dry the base: Carefully tilt the machine slightly backward and use towels or a sponge to remove water from the base tray so the anti-flood float switch resets.
After fixing the leak and drying the base, reconnect power and run a short cycle while observing for further leaks. If the source is not obvious, contact an AEG service technician.
