Possible Causes
Foreign object lodged in pump impeller, Damaged pump impeller, Partially blocked sump hose, Faulty drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and prepare for water spillage.
- Access and clean pump: Open the pump filter cover, drain residual water, and remove the filter. Use a torch to look deep into the pump chamber. Remove any objects (coins, hairpins, screws) blocking the impeller.
- Check sump hose: From the pump to the tub, the large black hose can trap socks or cloth. Remove the lower front panel or rear panel, loosen the clamp, and inspect the hose for obstructions.
- Inspect impeller condition: If the impeller blades are broken, loose on the shaft, or the shaft has excessive play, replace the pump.
Reassemble and test a drain cycle. If E21 persists and the pump does not run correctly, replace the AEG drain pump assembly.
