Possible Causes
Faulty AEG door lock assembly, Misaligned door catch, Broken door handle or latch, Wiring issue between lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the machine is unplugged before removing any panels or the door lock.
- Check door closure: Make sure no clothing is trapped in the door seal and that the door closes firmly with a click.
- Inspect door catch and hinge: Look for a loose or broken plastic catch on the door and sagging hinges that prevent proper alignment.
- Test door lock: Remove the front retaining band of the door seal and pull the seal back to access the lock. Check that the wiring connector is secure. If the lock is burnt or cracked, replace it.
If the door hardware is intact but E40 remains, the door lock assembly should be replaced with the correct AEG part.
