Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes on universal motor (if fitted), Faulty motor tachometer, Loose motor connector, Defective motor control circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and ensure the drum cannot start unexpectedly.

  • Access motor: Remove the rear panel. The motor is mounted under the drum with a drive belt.
  • Check belt: Ensure the belt is intact and correctly tensioned.
  • Inspect brushes (for brushed motors): Remove the motor and check the carbon brushes. If they are shorter than about 1 cm or unevenly worn, replace both with genuine AEG brushes.
  • Check connectors: Ensure the motor plug and tachometer wires are firmly connected.

If mechanical and brush issues are resolved but E50 persists, the motor or control board may need professional testing and replacement.
