Possible Causes

Open or shorted NTC sensor on heater bracket, Damaged NTC wiring harness, Corroded connector at control board, Control board input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the rear panel or heater area.

  • Access NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the heater assembly at the bottom of the tub. The NTC sensor is usually clipped into the heater flange.
  • Check connection: Ensure the NTC plug is firmly seated and free of corrosion or moisture.
  • Measure resistance (advanced): With a multimeter, measure the NTC resistance at room temperature. Compare with Defy specifications (commonly several kΩ). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace if faulty: Swap the NTC sensor with a compatible Defy part, ensuring it is fully inserted and clipped into place.

If the NTC tests correctly but E11 persists, the control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need professional diagnosis.
