Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer coil, Worn carbon brushes on universal motor (if fitted), Loose motor connector or damaged wiring harness, Faulty motor control circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor. Be careful of sharp edges when removing panels.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. The drive motor is mounted under the drum with a belt connecting to the drum pulley.
- Inspect the belt: Ensure the drive belt is intact and properly tensioned. A slipping belt can cause speed sensing issues. Replace if frayed or loose.
- Check motor connectors: Disconnect the motor plug and inspect for corrosion or burnt pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Test tachometer coil: On the motor, locate the tachometer (small coil at the rear). Measure resistance across its terminals (typically 100–200 Ω; refer to Grundig data). If open or shorted, the motor assembly usually needs replacement.
- Inspect and test brushes (if applicable): If your Grundig model uses a brushed universal motor, remove the brushes and check length. If they are worn below manufacturer minimum, replace both brushes with compatible Grundig parts.
- Wiring and PCB: Trace the motor harness to the main PCB. Look for damage or loose connections. If motor and wiring are good, the motor control triac or driver on the PCB may be defective and require board replacement.
