Possible Causes

Burnt heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt wiring at heater terminals, Defective main control module relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and allow it to cool before accessing the heater.

  • Access the heater: On most Hansa front-loaders, the heater is located at the bottom of the rear of the tub. Remove the rear panel to expose the heating element terminals and NTC sensor.
  • Inspect wiring: Check for burnt connectors, loose spade terminals, or melted insulation at the heater and NTC sensor. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
  • Test the heating element: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals with a multimeter. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. An open circuit or very low resistance indicates a faulty element. Replace the heating element if defective.
  • Test the NTC sensor: Remove the NTC from its pocket in the heater or tub. Measure resistance at room temperature (usually 20–30 kΩ). Warm it gently in your hand; resistance should decrease smoothly. If readings are erratic or open, replace the NTC sensor.
  • Check control board relay: If heater and NTC are good, the heater relay on the main control module may be stuck or burnt. Visual inspection may show burn marks. Board repair or replacement is typically a job for a technician.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts, reassemble panels and run a 60 °C wash to confirm heating and that E05 does not reappear.
