Possible Causes

Blocked drain pump filter, Clogged drain hose or standpipe, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and be prepared for water spillage. Keep towels and a shallow tray or container ready.

  • 1. Access drain filter: Open the service flap at the bottom front of the V-ZUG washer. Place a tray under the drain filter cap.
  • 2. Manually drain: If equipped with an emergency drain hose, pull it out and drain water into a container. Otherwise, slowly loosen the filter cap to let water flow out gradually.
  • 3. Clean filter: Remove the filter completely and clear lint, coins, buttons, and other debris. Check inside the pump housing for obstructions and carefully rotate the impeller to ensure it moves freely.
  • 4. Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach from the standpipe or siphon and flush with water if necessary.
  • 5. Reassemble and test: Refit the filter securely, close the flap, reconnect power, and run a drain or spin program to test.
  • 6. Check pump operation (advanced): If the pump hums but does not turn, the impeller may be jammed or the motor failing. With power off, access the pump from the rear or bottom, inspect wiring, and test coil resistance with a multimeter.
  • 7. Replace drain pump: If the pump is open-circuit, seized, or leaking, replace the V-ZUG drain pump assembly with the correct model-specific part.
  • 8. Technician help: If the pump is functional but never receives power, the main control module or wiring harness may be defective and should be checked by a V-ZUG technician.
