Possible Causes

Corrupted non-volatile memory on Clearwater control board, Voltage spikes or surges, Defective onboard EEPROM chip

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Only low-voltage electronics are involved, but unplug the unit before opening the control housing.

  • Perform factory reset: Use the Clearwater controller’s full reset procedure to clear stored data. Re-enter hardness, capacity, and time settings.
  • Use surge protection: Plug the adapter into a surge-protected outlet to prevent future corruption from spikes.
  • Test retention: After programming, unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then reconnect and verify settings are retained.

If E11 returns or settings are lost again, the Clearwater main control board must be replaced; the EEPROM is typically not serviceable separately.
