E10
Gourmia Descale Sensor / Scale Level Detection Fault

The display shows E10, and the unit will not brew; this is often associated with descaling or cleaning cycles.

Possible Causes

Scale sensor in the heating block coated with heavy mineral deposits, Descale cycle interrupted or not completed, Control board stuck in a descale-required state, Incorrect descaling solution used

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before descaling.

  • Run a full descale cycle: Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water (or manufacturer-approved descaler). Start the descale program if your Gourmia model has one, and allow it to complete fully without interruption.
  • Manual descale if no program: Brew until half the reservoir is empty, then pause for 20–30 minutes to let the solution soak. Resume brewing until empty. Repeat once if heavy scale is suspected.
  • Rinse thoroughly: Run 2–3 full reservoirs of fresh water through the system to flush out the descaler.
  • Reset descale indicator: Follow the user manual steps (often holding a specific button combination) to clear the descale warning. If E10 remains, the scale sensor or control logic may be faulty.
