Possible Causes
Weak heating element, Excessive heat loss from door gasket leak, Faulty temperature sensor reading low, Control board not driving element at full power
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool the smoker before inspection.
- Door seal check: Inspect the door gasket for gaps, tears, or compression set. Close the door on a strip of paper; you should feel resistance when pulling it out. Replace the gasket if sealing is poor.
- Element performance: During a test (with supervision), observe if the element glows evenly red at higher settings. Uneven or dim heating suggests a failing element.
- Sensor verification: Compare the smoker’s displayed temperature to an oven thermometer placed inside. If the display lags significantly, the sensor may be reading low and should be cleaned or replaced.
- Environmental factors: Avoid using the smoker in very cold or windy conditions that can prevent proper preheat.
- Component replacement: If gasket, sensor, and environment are acceptable but E13 persists, replace the heating element and, if needed, the main control PCB.
