Possible Causes
Open or shorted contactor coil, Loose coil control wiring from PCB, Faulty contactor driver circuit on Jaguar control PCB, Mechanical jam of contactor armature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the charger at the breaker. Verify absence of voltage before touching internal components.
- Step 1 – Listen for operation: When starting a charge (with cover on), you should normally hear a click from the contactor. If E06 appears with no click, suspect coil or driver issues.
- Step 2 – Visual inspection (power OFF): Remove the cover and locate the main contactor. Check for burn marks, melted plastic, or mechanical obstruction.
- Step 3 – Coil resistance: With a multimeter, measure the resistance of the contactor coil at its terminals. Compare to Jaguar service data. An open circuit or very low resistance indicates a failed coil.
- Step 4 – Wiring check: Ensure the coil control wires are firmly seated in the contactor and on the control PCB. Reseat any plug-in connectors.
- Step 5 – PCB driver test: If the coil is good but never energizes, the driver circuit on the Jaguar control PCB may be faulty. Replacement of the PCB is typically required and should be done by a qualified technician.
