Possible Causes

Door left open or not sealing, Recent large warm food load, Power outage or interruption, Failing compressor or low refrigerant charge, Blocked condenser or evaporator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit if you remove panels.

Immediate actions:

  • 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the gasket is clean and undamaged. Remove items blocking the door.
  • 2. Verify recent usage: If you recently loaded a large quantity of unfrozen food or had a power cut, the alarm may be normal. Allow 12–24 hours for temperature to recover.
  • 3. Inspect condenser ventilation: Make sure there is adequate space around the freezer and that the rear grille and condenser are not clogged with dust. Clean with a soft brush or vacuum (unplug first).
  • 4. Check interior frost: Look for heavy frost on the evaporator cover, which can indicate a defrost problem or door leak. Defrost manually if necessary.
  • 5. Monitor temperature: Use a separate freezer thermometer to verify actual temperature. If it does not drop below about -18°C after 24 hours with the door closed, further diagnosis of the sealed system or compressor is needed.

When to call a technician: If the compressor runs constantly but the freezer never reaches proper temperature, there may be a refrigerant leak or compressor failure, which requires professional service.
