Possible Causes

Stuck low-water float, mineral buildup on level sensor, misaligned float magnet and reed switch, failed low-water sensor.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before reaching into the reservoir.

  • Verify water level: Make sure the reservoir is filled to the indicated MAX line but not overfilled.
  • Free the float: Locate the low-water float (a small plastic piece that moves up and down). Move it gently with your finger; it should move freely without sticking.
  • Clean mineral deposits: If the float or sensor area has white scale, clean with a 1:1 vinegar and water solution, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Check for trapped air: Tilt the unit slightly to release any air pockets around the float or sensor.
  • Reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in and check if the ADD WATER message clears.
  • If still stuck: The low-water sensor or float assembly may be defective and should be replaced.
