Oven produces smoke and a burning smell during normal cooking (not first use).

Possible Causes
Built-up grease on cavity walls and elements, food spillage on the lower element, incorrect cookware causing spatter, faulty door seal allowing grease to reach hot surfaces.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If flames appear, switch off the oven immediately and keep the door closed to smother the fire. Do not use water on grease fires.
- Deep clean cavity: Once cool, remove racks and trays. Clean the interior with a non-caustic oven cleaner or a baking soda paste, paying special attention to the lower area and around the elements.
- Inspect elements: Check for heavy carbonized deposits on the lower and grill elements. Gently clean with a damp cloth when cool; do not scrape aggressively.
- Check door seal: Replace a damaged seal that allows grease to leak out and burn on external surfaces.
- Burn-off cycle: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 30–45 minutes with good ventilation to burn off residues.
