Possible Causes
Pellet bridging in the hopper, wet or crumbly pellets, excessive ash buildup in the firepot, intermittent auger motor operation.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the grill OFF and allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Step 1 – Check pellets: Inspect pellets for moisture damage. Replace with fresh, dry pellets if they are swollen or soft.
- Step 2 – Stir hopper: During long cooks, occasionally stir pellets to prevent bridging, especially with tall hoppers.
- Step 3 – Clean firepot frequently: Vacuum ash from the firepot every 2–3 cooks or after long smokes to maintain airflow.
- Step 4 – Inspect auger motor: If flame-outs are frequent, watch the auger during operation. If it stops intermittently or makes grinding noises, replace the auger motor.
