CF
The display shows 'CF' or 'CLn FIL' as a reminder; the pump may continue running but indicates that a filter clean is required.
Filter Maintenance Reminder / High Differential Pressure
dE
The display shows 'dE' or 'dry' and the pump stops shortly after starting.
Dry-Run Protection Activated
ERR1
The pump will not start; the control panel beeps and displays ERR1 immediately after pressing START.
Low Voltage / Undervoltage Protection
ERR2
The pump attempts to start, hums briefly, then stops and displays ERR2 on the AstralPool controller.
Overcurrent / Locked Rotor Protection
ERR3
The AstralPool variable-speed pump stops during operation and displays ERR3, often after running for some time.
Overtemperature / Thermal Protection Trip
ERR4
The pump display shows ERR4 and will not start; it sometimes appears after a power surge or lightning storm.
Internal Drive / Inverter Fault
ERR5
The AstralPool pump display shows ERR5, and the motor will not run, or runs briefly then stops.
Phase Loss / Phase Imbalance (for 3-phase or inverter-driven models)
ERR6
The pump display shows ERR6, and the unit will not start; it is sometimes accompanied by a faint click from inside the control housing.
Relay / Contactor Fault or Start Circuit Failure
ERR7
The AstralPool variable-speed pump shows ERR7 and cannot be controlled from the keypad or external automation.
Communication Error Between Keypad and Main Control Board
ERR8
The pump display shows ERR8, and the motor will not run; this often occurs after the pump has been flooded or exposed to heavy rain.
Ground Fault / Earth Leakage Detected
ERR9
AstralPool pump shows ERR9 and stops; this may occur intermittently when starting or changing speeds.
Speed Feedback / Hall Sensor Error (on some variable-speed models)
HI
The display shows 'HI' and the pump shuts down or refuses to start at higher speeds.
High Pressure / Overload Protection
LO
The display alternates between the speed setting and 'LO'; the pump may run at reduced speed or stop intermittently.
Low Flow / Low Pressure Protection
Pr
The display shows 'Pr' and the pump will not start until priming completes; it sometimes gets stuck in priming mode and times out.
Priming Failure Detected
rS
The display shows 'rS' or 'rSt' and the pump does not follow its programmed schedule.
Real-Time Clock / Scheduling Error
Symptom
Buttons on the AstralPool pump keypad do not respond or respond intermittently.
Keypad Switch Failure
Symptom
Pump display is blank or unreadable, but the motor still runs when controlled by external automation.
Display / Keypad Failure
Symptom
Pump emits a burning smell during operation, even though it still runs.
Overheating Motor or Electrical Connection
Symptom
Pump housing or unions show visible cracks or deformation.
Pump Casing / Union Body Damage
Symptom
Pump is excessively hot to touch but still running; plastic parts near the motor feel warm.
Overheating Motor (Pre-Overload)
Symptom
Pump performance has gradually decreased over months; lower flow and higher filter pressure than when new.
Impeller Wear / Internal Scaling
Symptom
Pump runs, but occasionally stops and restarts on its own without user input.
Intermittent Power or Control Fault
Symptom
Pump runs, but water appears cloudy or dirty despite normal run times.
Inadequate Filtration / Undersized or Misconfigured Pump Operation
Symptom
Pump runs, but water flow surges up and down; jets alternate between strong and weak.
Intermittent Air Ingress / Partial Blockage
Symptom
Pump speed fluctuates on a variable-speed AstralPool pump, even though a constant speed is selected.
Unstable Inverter Control / Sensor Feedback Issue
Symptom
Pump starts and then stops after a few minutes; the motor feels very hot to the touch.
Thermal Overload Trip
Symptom
Pump trips the circuit breaker or RCD immediately when turned on.
Electrical Short or Earth Leakage
Symptom
The pump hums loudly but does not start; it may trip the breaker after a few seconds.
Stalled Rotor / Start Failure
Symptom
The pump is leaking water between the pump housing and the motor (at the joint).
Mechanical Shaft Seal Failure
Symptom
The pump is running but makes a high-pitched whine or screeching noise.
Bearing or Cavitation Noise
Symptom
The pump is running but makes a loud grinding or rumbling noise from the motor end.
Worn Motor Bearings
Symptom
The pump is very noisy and vibrates; pipes rattle when the pump is running.
Excessive Vibration / Misalignment
Symptom
The pump loses prime and fills with air shortly after starting; the pump basket does not stay full of water.
Suction Air Leak / Loss of Prime
Symptom
The pump runs but there is very low flow at the pool returns, resulting in weak jets and poor skimming.
Hydraulic Restriction / Low Flow Condition
Symptom
The pump runs, but there are large amounts of air bubbles visible in the pump lid and at the pool return jets.
Suction Air Leak / Entrained Air
Symptom
The pump will not hold prime overnight; in the morning, the pump basket is empty, and the pump must be re-primed.
Suction Side Air Ingress / Check Valve Failure
Symptom
The pump will not start at all; there is no display, no noise, it is completely dead.
No Power / Dead Pump
Symptom
Water is leaking from around the clear pump lid when the pump is running.
Lid O-Ring Seal Failure
Symptom
Water is leaking from the union connections on the suction or discharge side of the pump.
Union Seal / O-Ring Leak
