Defrost Sensor or Coil Sensor Error
Er5
The Raypak heat pump shows Er5; the compressor will not start.
Compressor Overload or Discharge Temperature Error
Er6
Raypak controller displays Er6; the unit is locked out.
Internal Control Board Communication Error
Er7
Raypak heat pump displays Er7; the unit may not respond to keypad inputs.
Keypad or User Interface Error
Er8
Raypak controller displays Er8; the unit may operate erratically or not at all.
EEPROM or Configuration Memory Error
FLO
The display shows FLO or FL0, and the Raypak unit will not run the compressor or heater; it may click but not start.
Insufficient Water Flow / Flow Switch Open
FS
The Raypak controller shows an FS or FLOW SW error; the unit will not start heating even though the pump is running.
Flow Switch Circuit Fault
HI
The display shows HI or HIGH TEMP; the Raypak unit shuts down and will not heat until cooled.
High Water Temperature or Outlet Sensor Trip
HP
Pool pump/heat pump stops, and the display shows HP; the unit may shut down shortly after starting, especially in hot weather or with restricted water flow.
High-Pressure Refrigerant Lockout
LO
The Raypak heat pump or pump/heat combo displays LO or LOW TEMP and will not heat; the unit may run the fan only.
Low Ambient Temperature Lockout
LO FLO
The Raypak display alternates between LO FLO and water temperature; the unit may start and stop repeatedly.
Marginal Water Flow Condition
LP
Raypak pool heat pump or pump/heat combo displays LP and will not heat; the unit may attempt to start and then shut down.
Low-Pressure Refrigerant Lockout
OC
The Raypak pump display shows OC or OVERCURRENT; the pump may start then trip quickly.
Overcurrent / Locked Rotor Condition
OV
The display shows OV or OVERVOLT; the Raypak pump shuts down to protect its electronics.
Overvoltage Supply Fault
Pr
The Raypak variable-speed pump display shows Pr or PRIME FAIL; the pump shuts off after a priming attempt.
Priming Failure / Loss of Suction
PS
The display shows a PS or PRESS SW error; the Raypak unit will not start or shuts down shortly after starting.
Water Pressure Switch Open
SEN
The display shows SEN, SENSOR, or a similar code; the unit may not start or may shut down intermittently.
Water Temperature Sensor Fault
UV
Raypak variable-speed pump or control shows UV or UNDERVOLT; the pump may not start or may run erratically.
Undervoltage Supply Fault
Symptom
Raypak heat pump display is blank or unreadable, but the unit still seems to run.
Display or User Interface Failure
Symptom
Raypak heat pump emits a strong chemical or burning smell during operation.
Overheating Electrical or Plastic Components
Symptom
Raypak heat pump fan does not run, but compressor attempts to start or runs briefly.
Condenser Fan Failure
Symptom
Raypak heat pump frequently cycles on and off; short run times with frequent starts.
Short Cycling
Symptom
Raypak heat pump or pump/heat combo is excessively vibrating and noisy during operation.
Mechanical Vibration / Mounting Issue
Symptom
Raypak heat pump runs but causes the pool pump breaker to trip intermittently.
Electrical Overload or Short
Symptom
Raypak heat pump runs but does not heat the pool; water temperature does not increase.
No Heat Output
Symptom
Raypak heat pump trips the GFCI breaker immediately when turned on.
Ground Fault or Leakage Current
Symptom
Raypak pool pump will not start at all; there are no lights or display on the pump or controller.
No Power to Pump
Symptom
The Raypak pool pump hums but does not start; it may trip the breaker after a few seconds.
Locked Rotor or Failed Start Circuit
Symptom
The Raypak pool pump runs but has very low flow, resulting in weak return jets and poor skimming.
Reduced Hydraulic Performance
Symptom
The Raypak pump is very noisy, producing grinding or screeching sounds during operation.
Motor Bearing Failure
Symptom
The Raypak pump loses prime and sucks air; the pump basket runs dry or is partially full of air.
Suction Air Leak / Loss of Prime
Symptom
The Raypak pump makes a loud cavitation or rattling noise, and the pump basket is full of bubbles.
Cavitation Due to Restricted Suction or Low Inlet Pressure
Symptom
The Raypak pump or heat pump is leaking water from the bottom of the unit.
Internal Water Leak
