Possible Causes
Weak Wi-Fi signal at the thermostat location, Wi-Fi interference from other devices, Router channel congestion, Thermostat Wi-Fi module overheating.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No electrical panel work is required for this issue.
- Step 1 – Check signal strength: In the thermostat network settings, view the Wi-Fi signal strength. If low, consider moving the router closer or adding a Wi-Fi extender.
- Step 2 – Change router channel: Log into your router and change the 2.4 GHz channel to a less congested one (1, 6, or 11).
- Step 3 – Reduce interference: Keep cordless phones, microwave ovens, and large metal objects away from the thermostat and router.
- Step 4 – Assign static IP: Configure your router to reserve a static IP address for the thermostat to reduce DHCP issues.
- Step 5 – Firmware update: Update both the router and thermostat firmware to the latest versions.
