Main Control PCB Failure
ECU COMMUNICATION ERROR
The display shows ECU COMM ERROR or CAN BUS FAULT; the generator may not start or may run with limited functionality.
Loss of Communication Between Engine ECU and Control Panel
EXCITATION LOSS
Generator runs but produces little or no voltage; the control panel may show EXCITATION LOSS or FIELD LOSS.
Loss of Alternator Field Excitation
GENERATOR OVERLOAD
The generator runs, then trips with a GENERATOR OVERLOAD or LOAD SHED fault; the transfer switch may drop the load.
Overcurrent / Overload Protection Trip
GENERATOR SHORT CIRCUIT
Immediate shutdown with a SHORT CIRCUIT or FAULT CURRENT error when the generator attempts to pick up a load.
Output Short Circuit Protection Trip
GROUND FAULT
The control panel shows GROUND FAULT; the generator may shut down or refuse to transfer load.
Detected Ground Fault on Output
HIGH COOLANT TEMP
Generator runs briefly, then shuts down with a HIGH COOLANT TEMP or HIGH TEMP fault; the cooling fan may run loudly before shutdown.
Engine Overtemperature Shutdown
HIGH FUEL PRESSURE
The control panel shows HIGH FUEL PRESSURE or FUEL REGULATOR fault; the engine may run rough or surge.
Excessive Fuel Pressure at Engine Inlet
LOW BATTERY
The control panel displays LOW BATTERY or BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW; the generator may crank slowly or not at all.
Low DC Battery Voltage
LOW COOLANT TEMP / COLD START
Generator displays a LOW COOLANT TEMP or COLD START warning and may crank longer than usual in cold weather.
Low Engine Temperature / Cold Start Condition
LOW FUEL PRESSURE
The generator starts, then stalls under load and displays a LOW FUEL PRESSURE or FUEL SUPPLY fault.
Insufficient Fuel Pressure to Engine
LOW OIL PRESSURE
Generator starts then quickly shuts down and displays a LOW OIL PRESSURE fault, or will not start and immediately shows this code.
Low Oil Pressure Shutdown
NEUTRAL LOSS
The control panel indicates NEUTRAL LOSS or NEUTRAL FAULT; unusual voltages may be observed in the home.
Open or Loose Neutral Conductor
OVER FREQUENCY
The control panel shows OVER FREQUENCY; the generator may sound like it is running too fast.
High Engine Speed / Overfrequency
OVER VOLTAGE
The generator runs but shuts down with an OVER VOLTAGE fault; lights in the home may briefly brighten during transfer.
Generator Output Overvoltage
OVERCRANK
Generator attempts to start multiple times but fails to run, then shuts down and displays an OVERCRANK fault.
Overcrank – Failed Engine Start
OVERSPEED
Generator starts but quickly shuts down and displays an OVERSPEED fault; it may sound unusually loud or high-pitched just before shutdown.
Engine Overspeed Protection Trip
PHASE IMBALANCE
On three-phase Centurion units, the control panel shows PHASE IMBALANCE or VOLTAGE IMBALANCE; some loads may trip breakers.
Unequal Phase Voltage or Load
SENSOR FAILURE
The control panel shows SENSOR FAILURE or INPUT FAULT; the generator may refuse to start or may shut down unexpectedly.
Failed Engine or System Sensor Input
SERVICE DUE
Control panel displays SERVICE DUE or MAINTENANCE REMINDER; generator still runs normally.
Scheduled Maintenance Reminder
SPARK FAILURE
The generator cranks normally but does not start; the control panel shows SPARK FAILURE or IGNITION FAULT.
Ignition System Failure
STARTER FAULT
The control panel shows STARTER FAULT; the generator may click but not crank, or the starter may stay engaged.
Starter Motor or Solenoid Failure
STARTER LOCKOUT
The control panel displays STARTER LOCKOUT; the generator will not crank even though the battery is good.
Starter Circuit Lockout After Multiple Failed Attempts
UNDER FREQUENCY
The control panel shows UNDER FREQUENCY or RPM LOW; lights may dim and motors may sound strained when on generator power.
Low Engine Speed / Underfrequency
UNDER VOLTAGE
The generator runs but displays an UNDER VOLTAGE fault; home loads may drop out or the transfer switch may not engage.
Generator Output Undervoltage
Symptom
Corrosion on battery terminals and metal parts inside the Centurion generator enclosure.
Corrosion and Oxidation Damage
Symptom
Generator cranks but does not start – no firing; exhaust smells like unburned fuel.
Crank-No-Start (Fuel or Ignition Issue)
Symptom
Generator runs but is excessively noisy – knocking, pinging, or metallic sounds from the engine compartment.
Abnormal Engine Noise
Symptom
Generator starts but immediately stalls when load is applied from the transfer switch.
Stall Under Load
Symptom
Generator vibrates excessively during operation; enclosure panels rattle loudly.
Excessive Vibration
Symptom
Generator will not start at all – no crank, no click from starter; display may be on.
No-Crank Condition
Symptom
Rodent nests, chewed wires, or insect infestation inside the generator enclosure.
Pest Damage to Wiring and Components
Symptom
Strong fuel gas smell around the Centurion generator enclosure during or after operation.
Fuel Leak or Incomplete Combustion
Symptom
Transfer switch does not transfer to generator power during an outage even though the generator is running normally.
No Transfer to Generator
Symptom
Transfer switch remains on generator power after utility is restored; the generator continues to run.
Failure to Re-Transfer to Utility
Symptom
Visible oil leak under the generator; oil spots on the pad or inside the enclosure.
External Engine Oil Leak
Symptom
Water pooling inside the generator enclosure or signs of rust and corrosion on components.
Water Ingress into Enclosure
