Possible Causes

Faulty starter solenoid, Failed starter motor, Open starter relay, Loose battery or starter cables

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the generator is in OFF mode and the ATS is isolated. Disconnect the battery negative terminal before working on starter wiring.

  • Check battery and cables: Confirm the starting battery is fully charged. Inspect the positive cable from the battery to the starter solenoid and the ground cable to the engine block for tightness and corrosion.
  • Inspect starter relay: Locate the starter relay in the Hyundai control panel. Check for loose connectors and test the relay by listening for a click when a start is commanded (battery temporarily reconnected). Replace if no operation.
  • Test starter solenoid: With proper precautions and using a multimeter, verify that 12 V reaches the solenoid control terminal when start is commanded. If voltage is present but the starter does not engage, the solenoid or starter is likely faulty.
  • Replace starter assembly: Remove the starter motor from the engine and install a Hyundai-compatible starter. Ensure correct torque on mounting bolts and reconnect cables securely.
  • Retest: Reconnect the battery, clear E10, and attempt a manual start.
