Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain pump impeller, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.

  • Clean the pump filter: Locate the service flap at the bottom front of your Hansa washer. Open it and unscrew the pump filter cap slowly to let water drain into a tray. Remove debris (coins, lint, buttons) from the filter and cavity. Check that the impeller spins freely.
  • Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach it from the standpipe or sink connection and flush it with water. Ensure the hose is not inserted too deep into the standpipe (can cause siphoning).
  • Check pump operation: After cleaning, reassemble the filter, plug in the washer, and select a drain or spin program. Listen for the pump running. If it hums but does not pump, the impeller may be jammed or the pump is weak. If it is silent, the pump may be electrically faulty.
  • Test pump electrically: With power off, access the pump from the rear or bottom. Disconnect the wiring connector and measure coil resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit or burnt smell indicates a bad pump. Replace the drain pump assembly if defective.
  • Re-test: Run a rinse and spin cycle to confirm proper drainage and that E03 no longer appears.
