E04
The charger shows E04 and a red LED; charging stops or will not start, often after a storm or power fluctuation.
Overvoltage / Undervoltage Supply Fault
E05
The charger intermittently trips to E05 during or shortly after starting a charge; this may coincide with RCD tripping.
Residual Current / DC Leakage Fault
E06
The charger displays E06 and refuses to start; it is often logged as a "PEN fault" or "PME fault" in the app.
PEN Conductor / PME Fault Detection
E07
Charger displays E07; the fan may run at high speed, or the unit may feel unusually warm to the touch.
Overtemperature Protection Trip
E08
Charger displays E08 and will not initiate charging; often associated with communication issues with a smart meter or CT clamp.
Load Management / CT Clamp Communication Fault
E09
Charger displays E09; the app may indicate "RCD self-test failed" or similar; the unit refuses to charge.
Internal RCD Self-Test Failure
E10
Charger displays E10; the app or display may indicate "GPRS/4G communication error" or "OCPP server unreachable" on smart Rolec units.
Network / Backend Communication Fault
E11
Charger displays E11; the app may show "Wi-Fi connection failed" or "no internet" on Wi-Fi enabled Rolec home chargers.
Wi-Fi Connectivity Fault
E12
Charger displays E12; the app may indicate "RFID reader error" or "authorization device fault" on RFID-enabled Rolec units.
RFID Reader / Authentication Fault
E13
Charger displays E13; the app may show "meter error" or "MID meter communication fault" on metered Rolec units.

E14
Charger displays E14; the app may indicate "firmware error" or "configuration corrupted"; the unit may reboot repeatedly.
Firmware / Configuration Corruption
E15
Charger displays E15; the app may show "schedule conflict" or "time sync error"; scheduled charging does not start.
Real-Time Clock / Scheduling Fault
E16
Charger displays E16; the app may indicate "overcurrent" or "output current exceeded"; charging stops abruptly.
Overcurrent Protection Trip
E17
Charger displays E17; app may show "phase imbalance" or "phase loss" on three-phase Rolec units.
Phase Loss / Phase Imbalance Fault
E18
Charger shows E18; app may indicate "socket lock error"; Type 2 socket flap or locking pin will not engage or release.
Socket Locking Mechanism Fault
E19
Charger displays E19; app may show "pilot short to earth" or "CP fault"; charging cannot start.
Control Pilot Short / Ground Fault
E20
Charger shows E20; app may indicate "no vehicle detected" even when the plug is inserted; LEDs may stay in standby colour.
Vehicle Detection / Proximity Circuit Fault
Symptom
Burning smell or visible scorch marks around the Rolec charger or its cable during or after charging.
Overheating / Arcing at Connections
Symptom
Charger completely dead – no LEDs, no display, no response when vehicle is plugged in.
No Power / Supply Loss
Symptom
Charger enclosure feels excessively hot to the touch during normal charging, even in mild ambient temperatures.
Overheating Enclosure / Poor Thermal Management
Symptom
Charger makes loud humming or buzzing noises during charging, louder than typical contactor click and transformer hum.
Excessive Vibration / Acoustic Noise from Contactor or Coils
Symptom
Charger powers on but will not start charging; LEDs remain in ready/standby state and vehicle shows "charging not started" with no error code.
Charge Enable / Start Command Not Received
Symptom
Charger randomly reboots or restarts during charging, causing brief interruptions but then resumes.
Intermittent Control PCB Reset / Power Supply Instability
Symptom
Charger starts charging but stops after a few minutes without any error code on the front; vehicle may show "charging interrupted".
Intermittent Supply or Thermal Cut-Out
Symptom
Charger trips the house RCD or RCBO as soon as a vehicle is plugged in or charging starts.
Nuisance RCD Tripping / Earth Leakage
Symptom
Charger’s built‑in kWh readings or app energy reports are clearly inaccurate compared to the vehicle’s reported energy.
Energy Meter Calibration / Measurement Error
Symptom
Charger’s front LEDs are flashing in an unusual pattern not documented in the user guide, but no code is shown in the app.
