Possible Causes
Incorrect current limit configuration in Vestel settings, Short circuit or partial short in Type 2 socket or cable, Internal power module failure, Faulty current sensor (CT) on output lines
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Overcurrent can cause overheating and fire. Isolate the charger and do not reuse until the cause is identified.
- 1. Check configuration: Access the installer menu or web interface and verify that the maximum charging current is set according to the supply cable and breaker rating (e.g., 16 A or 32 A). Correct any misconfiguration.
- 2. Inspect cable and socket: Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or discoloration on the Type 2 socket and cable ends. Replace any damaged components.
- 3. Test with another cable and vehicle: If E08 only occurs with a specific cable or vehicle, isolate the problem to that component.
- 4. Check current sensor connections: With power off, locate the current transformers (CTs) or shunt resistors on the output lines. Ensure their connectors to the main board are secure and that all conductors pass correctly through CT cores.
- 5. Measure output current (technician only): Using a clamp meter, monitor the output current during a charge attempt. If the measured current is normal but the charger reports overcurrent, suspect a faulty CT or measurement circuit and replace the CT module or main board.
- 6. Inspect power module: If actual current spikes or is unstable, the power module may be failing. Replace the power module assembly according to Vestel procedures.
