Possible Causes
Insufficient engine oil, blocked oil cooler, failed oil cooler fan (if fitted), prolonged overload operation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the engine to cool. Do not run with suspected lubrication issues.
- Check oil level: Verify the oil is at the correct level on the dipstick. Top up if low and investigate for leaks.
- Inspect oil cooler: If the JCB engine uses an external oil cooler, check for blocked fins or restricted coolant flow (for water-cooled types).
- Load check: Review recent load conditions. Continuous operation above the rated kW can raise oil temperature. Reduce the load to within the nameplate rating.
- Sensor and wiring: Locate the oil temperature sensor and inspect the wiring to the controller. Replace the sensor if readings are clearly abnormal compared to coolant temperature.
- Persistent high temperature: If the oil temperature remains high with normal load and cooling, consult a technician to inspect internal lubrication passages.
