Possible Causes

Regeneration lockout enabled in programming, Incorrect time of day or calendar settings, Failed regeneration relay or triac on Crystal Quest control board, Defective REGEN button on the keypad

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the front panel.

  • Check programming: Enter the installer menu and verify that regeneration is not disabled or restricted to certain days. Correct any lockout settings.
  • Verify clock: Ensure the time of day and day of week are set correctly so scheduled regenerations are allowed.
  • Test manual regen: With the panel reinstalled, press and hold the REGEN button for the required duration (often 3–5 seconds). If the display acknowledges but the valve does not move, the regeneration output on the board may be faulty.
  • Inspect keypad: If the button press is not detected at all, replace the Crystal Quest keypad/display module. If the valve motor never energizes despite correct commands, replace the Crystal Quest main control board.
