Charger shows E15; internal DC fault or DC residual current above threshold

Safety first: DC residual currents can compromise RCD protection. Take the charger out of service until the cause is identified.

Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Test with another vehicle: Disconnect the current EV and test charging with a different vehicle. If E15 only occurs with one EV, the fault is likely vehicle-side.
• 2. Inspect sensor installation: With power off, open the charger and locate the DC residual current sensor (often a ring core around the power conductors). Ensure all required conductors pass through the core as specified and that none are bypassing it.
• 3. Check for external fields: Ensure that no large transformers or high-current busbars are installed immediately adjacent to the KEBA unit that could saturate the sensor.
• 4. Visual inspection: Look for cracks or damage to the sensor housing and check that its connector to the main board is secure.
• 5. Reset and retest: After inspection, power-cycle the charger and attempt a new charging session. Monitor whether E15 reappears immediately or only under certain conditions.
• 6. Replace sensor/module: If E15 persists with multiple vehicles and correct wiring, replace the DC residual current sensor or the integrated RCD/RCM module as per KEBA documentation.

Do not bypass or disable DC residual current detection as a workaround.
