Possible Causes
Faulty Wi-Fi module on VW wallbox communication board, Weak Wi-Fi signal at charger location, Incorrect Wi-Fi credentials, Router firewall blocking outbound connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Network troubleshooting does not involve high voltage, but do not open the charger unless qualified.
- Check Wi-Fi signal: Use a smartphone at the charger location to verify signal strength. If weak, move the router or add a Wi-Fi extender.
- Re-enter credentials: In the VW wallbox setup app, forget the current network and reconfigure Wi-Fi with the correct SSID and password.
- Test with mobile hotspot: Temporarily connect the VW wallbox to a phone hotspot (if supported) to rule out router issues.
- Reboot router and charger: Power cycle both devices and test again.
If E013 continues with known-good Wi-Fi, the internal communication board or Wi-Fi module may be defective and require replacement.
