Possible Causes
Incorrect Wi-Fi password, unsupported security type, MAC address filtering on router, router blocking Nest device.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: N2 does not affect local HVAC control.
- Re-enter password: Carefully retype the Wi-Fi password on the Nest, paying attention to case sensitivity.
- Check router security: Ensure the router uses WPA2 or WPA3 security and not enterprise authentication or WEP.
- Disable MAC filtering: If your router uses MAC address filtering, add the Nest's MAC address (found under Settings > Technical Info > Network) to the allowed list.
- Reboot router and Nest: Power cycle both devices and attempt connection again.
If N2 persists while other devices connect normally, check for firmware updates on both the router and Nest, or try a different Wi-Fi network.
