Possible Causes
Heavy grease buildup on the drip tray, Cooking at high temperatures with fatty foods, Blocked grease channel causing pooling, Excessive flare-ups from open flame exposure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do NOT open the lid fully or use water on a grease fire. Turn the grill off, unplug it, and keep the lid closed to smother flames. Have a Class B fire extinguisher nearby.
- Smother the fire: Keep the lid closed until flames subside. If safe and necessary, use a fire extinguisher through a small opening.
- After cooling: Once completely cool, remove grates, diffuser, and drip tray. Scrape and clean all grease from these parts and the interior surfaces.
- Inspect grease system: Ensure the grease channel and bucket are clear and functioning.
- Adjust cooking practices: Avoid running at maximum temperature with heavy grease loads. Use drip pans under very fatty meats.
